Can I rent a car even if I am a beginner (less than one year after obtaining a driver's license)?

Yes.
However, in order to drive in Japan, you must present a driver's license (1 or 2) and passport (3). Please check the information below.


1.International driver's license based on the Geneva Convention
Driving with an international driver's license obtained in a country that is a signatory to the Paris Convention (1926), Washington Convention (1943), or Vienna Convention (1968) is not allowed in Japan. Please bring the original. Photocopies are not acceptable.


2.Foreign driver's license and official Japanese translation issued in the applicable countries and regions
Applicable countries and regions: Swiss Confederation, Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Kingdom of Belgium, Principality of Monaco and Taiwan.
Japanese translation: Translated text in Japanese prepared by a person designated by government ordinance.
International driver's licenses issued by the above countries and regions are not valid for driving in Japan.

3.Passport
We will check the stamp of the date of landing in Japan on your passport. If you are entering or leaving the country through the "Automated Gate," please ask a staff member to stamp your passport when you pass through the gate. < The period during which you can drive in Japan >
One year from the date of landing in Japan or the validity period of the driver's license, whichever is shorter.

We may prepare a car of a higher class than the one you have reserved, without changing the rental rate and other conditions of the reservation. Please check your intended use and make your selection.
If you check "No Class Up", the car will be prepared in the same class as the car you reserved.

For example, if you have reserved a P0 class car (minicar) but have selected "Yes" for class upgrade, we may prepare a P1 class car (March) or P2 class car (Notebook).

 What is your accident compensation policy?

 In the event of an accident, please stop driving immediately and take the following actions
(1) First aid the injured.
After helping the injured, immediately move the rental car to a location where it will not interfere with other traffic.
(2) Call the police (110) from the spot.
Both the injured party and the victim are obligated to report the accident to the police. A certificate of accident will be required at a later date, so please follow the necessary procedures.
(3) Contact the store of departure from the spot.

Regardless of the size of the scratch or dent, or the presence or absence of the other party, the accident will be treated as an accident.

 What should I do if I have an accident?

In the unlikely event of an accident, compensation will be provided within the prescribed compensation limits.
However, damages that are not covered by the insurance and damages that exceed the compensation limit will be borne entirely by the customer,
The customer will be responsible for any damage that is not covered by the insurance and any damage that exceeds the coverage limit.
If you subscribe to the Standard Plan or the Full Support Plan at the time of reservation or contract, the deductible for property and vehicle coverage will be waived in the event of an accident, except in the following cases.

<Excluded Cases>
(1) If you do not follow the prescribed procedures, such as contacting the police or the Company at the time of the accident.
(2) In case of violation of the rental agreement

(5) Repair due to wrong fuel type at the time of refueling
④ Damage caused by faulty use and management of the vehicle.
In case of smoking in a non-smoking car, a penalty of 70,000 yen (including restoration fee) will be charged in addition to the non-operation charge.
*All matters related to the rental and delivery of the vehicle shall be in accordance with the "Terms and Conditions of Rental and Delivery".

 Can I extend the period of use (time)?

 If you are driving, please stop at a safe place first. After that, please contact the store of departure.

If a vehicle not equipped with a spare tire sustains a flat tire, use a flat tire repair kit. Please contact the store of departure for details on how to use the kit.
Please note that customers are responsible for the cost of tire replacement, repair of damaged tires, tire costs, and lost wheel caps.

A one-way drive service fee (abandonment fee) may be charged when returning (abandoning) the vehicle to another location.

 Yes. 
We provide full tank when you pick up the car and we would like you to fill the fuel/petrol tank before you return the car at outlet. Please ask outlet staff about type of fuel/petrol.

Do I need to fill the fuel/petrol tank when I return the car?

 The actual number of kilometers driven will be multiplied by the unit price of gasoline per kilometer as stipulated by our company.
However, please note that the price will be higher than the actual amount of gasoline.

 What should I do if I cannot fill the tank when I return the car?

 Please depart and return your rental car during Nissan Rent-A-Car's business hours.

 Can I leave and return the car after hours?

As a rule, we require credit card payment (one-time payment only) on the Web site in advance.
Payment in cash is also accepted, but please confirm in advance as you will be required to present supporting documentation.
*For P8-P10 class, E class, PS class, PH class (except PH2), W1 and W6 class, payment must be made by credit card (one-time payment only).
